A Los Angeles-based company called Pac3 throws its support in Philippines boxing, especially to promoter Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde Jr’s event next month in Manila, Philippines.

Pac3, headed by the triumvirate of Jimmy Ancheta, Jun Stamatelake and Randy George, and Elorde set the explosive “Rumble in Sucat” card on March 20 at Elorde Sports Complex in Sucat, Paranaque City.

The main event of the boxfest is scheduled 10-round fight of the current WBC No. 9 contender and WBC International super flyweight champion Sylvester “Silver” Lopez against tough fighter Jilo Merlin of Surigao City. The fight will be at bantamweight, three pound heavier in Lopez’s division.

The 22-year old Filipino champion is considered by aficionados as one of the next superstars in the world of boxing. Lopez has more than 100 fights as amateur to boast and currently holds a menacing eight knockout victims in his 12 wins against two loses and a draw as pro.

Lopez, a native of Kabalasan town in Zamboanga Sibugay province in southern Philippines but is training and fighting out of Elorde’s stable, is the reigning WBC International super flyweight champion. He captured the vacant title last April when he was 21 years of age from a devastating 8th round TKO win over previously unbeaten Korean champion Jong-Nam Park.

Merlin, 21, is a natural bantamweight who beat former WBO super flyweight title challenger Roy Doliguez via unanimous decision eight months ago in San Juan City.

Elorde prepares nine more pairs of bouts between young and ambitious fighters to complete the card.

(L-R) Laurence Elorde, Bebot Elorde, Jun Stamatelake, Jimmy Ancheta, Randy George, Patricia George, Lala Ancheta and Mizi George get together at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California recently.
