King reminds fighters it’s war

Published on Mon, 1/03/10 | Noticias

Promoter Don King didn’t like the friendly demeanor of WBC junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander and IBF world champion Juan Urango on a recent conference call to promote Saturday night’s unification clash at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. After both fighters wished each other the best at the close of the call, DKP publicist Alan Hopper asked Alexander trainer Kevin Cunningham if he had any parting shots. That’s when King interrupted. “Knocking his ass out – that’s what the final shot is,” proclaimed King, who promotes Alexander. “All of this [is] BS, man, we going to war. Ain’t no friends here. We all going out there. We’ll be friends March the 7th….We want to go in there and beat the guy. We don’t wish him no good luck, we don’t wish him nothing, you know, nothing but hardship, aches and pains and headaches and stomachaches and cracked rib cages, you know what I mean? That’s what we want. And then, we can talk about the healing process on the 7th!”
