FORMER champion Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel will resume his bid to win another world title on March 3 in his hometown, Los Mochis, Mexico.

Facing each other will give them a chance to rebound from failure to win title in their respective bouts last year. Montiel, 32, and Angkota, 30, both ended the year 2011 with loss.
WBC International championship chairman Mauro Betti of Italy revealed the fight will be scheduled for 12 rounds. The vacant WBC International silver super bantamweight title will be on the line.
It was the same title Montiel failed to grab after suffering his second loss last year, a unanimous decision to Guadalajara’s Victor “Vikingo” Terrazas in Los Mochis on Nov. 19.
Montiel was devastated with second round TKO shameful defeat at the hands of hardnosed Nonito Donaire Jr in February in Las Vegas where in the Filipino Flash dethroned him as WBC bantamweight champion.
Angkota split his two bouts last year with a win against Federico Catubay and a UD setback in a rematch with the great Jorge “Travieso” Arce in May and November, respectively.
