CHAMPION, RUNS FOR OFFICE
The WBC Superflyweight world champion, Marcela Acuña has run for office trying to hols a position as the national election will take place this Sunday in Argentina. Based on her popularity, specially among the working class of the country.
The World Boxing Council and its President, Jose Sulaiman, from Mexico, are very proud of this step taken by our champion, as young ladies like her, who struggle in life after having won, become examples to the youth of the world as well as a new wave of optimistic and clean direction for the young people of the country and the world. The WBC hopes that our “Tigress” wins and she steps in the ring of her country to defend the rights of the Argentinian people.
Marcela Acuña has shaped a record in professional boxing of 32 wins, 16 of them by K.O. and only 5 losses. She won her WBC world title when she defeated the then unbeaten champion, Alejandra Oliveras, in a great bout that was attended by 10,000 thrilled spectators at Luna Park, home of Tito Lectoure, and home of great Argentinian fighters, such as : Luis Angel Firpo; immortal Carlos Monzon; Ringo Bonavena; Pacualito Perez; and Miguel Angel Cuello, among many other great idols of an Argentina that has boxing right in the heart of its people.
We wish our world champion, Marcela Acuña, luck, and we hope she becomes a female leader who guides youngsters to a better struggle, a struggle for peace, for the great Argentinian people`s own good.
