The first Diamond Belt has been approved for the fight between extraordinary champions Manny Pacquiao, from the Philippines, and Miguel Cotto, from Puerto Rico, in a fight promoted by Top Rank.

The World Boxing Council received information on the fact that the contracts for the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto have been signed; in such contracts, a request to the organization to put the World Boxing Council Diamond Belt in dispute has been included. A voting on such matter by the Board of Governors had already been asked for, as a precaution regarding any possible request.

The World Boxing Council voted unanimously, ratifying that Manny Pacquiao as well as Miguel Cotto are unanimously considered as two of the most extraordinary boxers and some of the ones who are currently the worthiest in world boxing and consequently elite fighters that are to compete for this collection belt which is handcrafted by an artisan in Mexico City with 18 carat gold fusion and has about 800 diamonds, emeralds and rubies, as well as 150 Swarovsky semiprecious stones.
It will go down in history that the bout between these two amazing boxers will be the very first one for which the World Boxing Council has approved the being in dispute of this Diamond Belt, which has already been considered as the Oscar of professional boxing.
This is a moment that will go down in the history of the World Boxing Council, as it is the first time in our 48 years of existence that a fight for the Diamond Belt will take place; a bout that is being awaited by Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto with a lot of excitement.
