The ‘Champions of the future’ Foundation gives changes to talents
Events as step to the future.
Nieuw Vennep – The ‘Champions of the Future’ Foundations has been started in 2007 to organize box events. Not commercial driven but with the goal to let young talents experience the (kick) boxing world. His own experience as international referee is for founder Lahcen Oumghar indispensable and the perfect basis.
Lahcen Oumghar has been three times Dutch Champion featherweight. The experienced boxer and international referee knows the ins and outs of the world of boxing. And it is this experience he uses for the ‘Champions of the Future’ foundation. ‘We organize events for Young talent to show their possibilities ans let them experiencing.
To participate in these events let them grow and that is what they need’ Oumghar tells us.
In his opinion there is not enough attentions for the development of young boxers. ‘If you want tot stimulate the youth at sports you have to create them changes’.
Oumghar has knowledge of the boxingworld and he has good eyes for the lacked changes. ‘With boxing they learn discipline, rules and respect for each other. They learn to handle this’.
With his foundation he tries to bring boxing at people’s interest and to show that boxing is a lot more than fighting each other. The last event planned in October 2009 could not start because of finance and that hurts him. ‘We does not get any subsidy and it became too expensive. We only work with volunteers and we can always use more. People who like this sports like we do and agree with the goal of the foundation’. It may be clear that Oumghar lives for his sport and stimulating the youth. His motivation is also clear. ‘It is all about one thing: Improve the world, start with yourself. Because when you respect yourself, you will receive respect’.
