HUGE ENTHUSIASM DUE TO THE BOUT BETWEEN GUTY ESPADAS JR. AND ELIO ROJAS ON FEBRUARY 20th, 2010 IN MERIDA.
An unusual press conference took place yesterday in a hotel of Mexico City to inform in great detail what will be the promotion of February 20th, in Merida, with the bout between WBC Featherweight world champion, Elio Rojas, of the Dominican Republic, who will put his title on the line, and his challenger, Guty Espadas, of Mexico, being the main event; of course, Espadas is the great favorite of our fans as he will be fighting at home, in addition to the fact that he was the champion of the same division some time ago.
As we said, the meeting was a luxurious one, because of the attendants and also due to what was seen and said. Ivonne Aracelly Ortega Pacheco, Governor of Yucatan, the World Boxing Council President, Jose Sulaiman, the youngest and most promising promoter of such peninsula, Pepe Gomez, other businessmen such as Hector Garcia, Mexican former world champions, ring officials, and representatives of the media were in attendance.
The American show-man, Don King, one of the greatest boxing promoters of all-time, joined all the aforementioned people; he had a place at the main table, took the floor and received a round of loud applause.
Governor Ortega Pacheco spoke about the beauty of her state, and the things that all the people who attend the boxing evening will have the opportunity to enjoy, she congratulated Guty Espadas, who was at the same podium, as well as the organizers; she got enthusiastic when giving her speech, and of course she also received a round of loud applause, and was given everybody´s recognition.
Don Jose Sulaiman, of course, lit the passion for boxing once again, when he spoke over the microphone and the details that only he knows came up, which triggered the curiosity of the attendants, in addition to the usual questions and interviews in every of these boxing sessions which have become a custom here.
The special ingredient to liven up was the fact that there were dances performed by the official dancing group of Yucatan, plus two videos about the men who will step in the ring; well, the press conference gave the media, who are the ones that inform the fans of our sport of fists, more than it was expected. Among the media people there were many of them who came from several states of Mexico, especially from the Yucatan peninsula.
