“CANELO” WILL FIGHT
ON MARCH 6th IN CHIAPAS
Chepo Reynoso and Hector Garcia signed the contract

Yesterday, promoter Hector Garcia and manager Chepo Reynoso signed the contract that commits Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to fight on March 6th, 2010 in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas.

“Although we analyzed the possibility to face Floyd Mayweather in March, the best decision right now is to fight in Chiapas, as we already had an agreement and we respect keeping our word very much” Reynoso said.

HG Boxing will present what could be the last battle of “Canelo” in Mexican soil, the manager from Jalisco mentioned, as the destiny of the unbeaten Welterweight fighter is aiming to take place in rings of the United States.

Out of three rivals, who were not announced, the challenger of “Canelo” for the bout in Chiapas will be chosen.

When will the time to fight Floyd Mayweather come??

“He can face him any time, but the odds in favor of his winning would be lower now than in six or seven months. They are natural fighters, we want Saul to get to that day with more probabilities to win, and we want Saul Alvarez to become a superstar”.

And to end with all the speculations once and for all, Hector Garcia will again present Saul Alvarez, who he promoted from his beginnings, as well as he promoted his brothers, and whom he wishes the best and success in his new undertaking. “Canelo Promotions”.

Jose Sulaiman asks “Canelo” Alvarez for calm, before accepting a fight against Mayweather Jr.

In view of the information regarding the fact that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez could face multi-champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in March, the World Boxing Council President, Jose Sulaiman, recommended that the Mexican fighter not rush, as he considers he still has way to cover in order to face a fighter of the stature of the American fighter. He added: “It would be a mistake if he accepted that fight; I believe – he suggested – he should step aside”.

First World Boxing Sanctioning Summit a Success

Hotel Barceló, Riviera Maya, Mexico – January 15, 2010:

The world boxing sanctioning organizations announced the conclusion of their first of many planned summit conferences, and the initiation of a new era of unity and cooperation for the improvement of the sport of boxing.

The International Boxing Federation recently invited the WBC, WBA, and WBO, and the meeting was hosted this week by the World Boxing Council in the convention region of Riveria Maya, near Cancun, Mexico. Attending were WBC President Jose Sulaimán, Executive Secretary Mauricio Sulaimán; attorneys Gabriel Peñagarícano and Robert J.B. Lenhardt; the IBF’s President Marian W. Muhammad and Larry Hazzard, Sr.; and the World Boxing Association Executive President Gilberto Mendoza Jr.

The meeting agenda included consideration of many major innovations for world championship boxing, but with special emphasis on uniformity of provisions for safety and antidoping, the continued improvement and standardization of officials’ performance through formal reviews and combined training seminars, and maximizing opportunities and human equality for all boxers and promoters worldwide.

Key considerations included focusing on building the most amicable relationships and the highest levels of cooperation between the sanctioning bodies and the boxing commissions of the USA and around the world, and with all entities active in the sport including the Boxing Promoters Association of America.

WBC President Sulaimán commented, “The WBC, and the other world sanctioning bodies, have always been the leaders in the creation of the rules and regulations that govern boxing. For many decades, we have led the way for uniformity, safety, and the best interests of the sport of boxing.”

“This is the next great step in the evolution of our sport”, agreed IBF President Muhammad. She continued, “The world of boxing has been waiting for true leadership, and in our unity, we have ability to provide and reinforce that leadership.”

WBA President Mendoza had endorsed this message, saying, “My expectation would be to continue with the good and close inter-organization relations for the benefit of boxing.”

“We have strength in unity,” the IBF’s Larry Hazzard summed it up enthusiastically. “Some people said that the world bodies could never meet and work together. To repeat a famous quote, I say, ‘Yes, we can’… we have, and we will.”

PRESS RELEASE

During the third week of March
VICTOR TERRAZAS WILL FIGHT
MUNROE IN AN ELIMINATION BOUT
IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
The winner will fight for the WBC Superbantamweight
World Title

Victor Terrazas, from Jalisco, is preparing his elimination bout against British fighter Rendall Munroe (Born in Jamaica). Such bout will take place during the third week of March 2010 in the United Kingdom.

“The Viking”, WBC ranked number 3 in the Superbantamweight division, will be facing the fighter who is ranked number 1, with the guarantee that the winner will face Japanese Champion Toshiaki Nishioka.

Represented by Manager Edison Reynoso and exclusively promoted by HG Boxing, Terrazas began his training when 2010 started.

“Terrazas´ frame of mind is sky-high”, Reynoso stated.

Terrazas, who is a skilled great technical boxer, is about to achieve 7 years without a loss. In actual fact, the only loss in his successful career happened when he made his debut – March 2003 –.

“Although he has won some titles, Victor was a little left out regarding his image, but Promoter Hector Garcia has worked hard to place him among the best in his division, in addition to getting him an unbeatable purse for this elimination bout”, Reynoso said.

Tentatively, the battle between Victor “The Viking” Terrazas (34-1, 20 KO´s) and Rendall Munroe (20-1, 8 KO´s) will be held on Friday March 19th, 2010 in a city of the United Kingdom to be announced.

“We do not worry at all about fighting abroad, and we generally do it with other fighters that we train, such as former two-time World Champion Oscar Larios” Terrazas´ manager explained.

“The Viking”, who was about to start training in Guadalajara, mentioned that after defeating Munroe, he will go after the head of Toshiaki Nishioka, from Japan, current World Boxing Council Superbantamweight World Champion.

December 18, 2009
KOBE, JAPAN
WBC bantam champ Hozumi Hasegawa (28-2, 12 KOs), 117.75, impressively scored his tenth defense as he exploded a vicous double left cross to Nicaraguan challenger Alvaro Perez (18-2-1-3NC, 12 KOs), 117, and dropped him face first prone to prompt the referee’s immediate halt at 2:38 of the fourth round on Friday in Kobe, Japan.
Hasegawa, a couple of days after his twenty-ninth birthday, celebrated it with his tenth defense by his fifth stoppage in a row. Perez, 27, fought aggressively from the start, throwing big shots to the cautiously counterpunching champ. As the fight progressed, Hasegawa found his range and rhythm with stinging southpaw jabs and caught him with good lefts to the face. Perez, another southpaw, landed a solid left early in the second, but gradually yielded the initiative to the aggressive and more accurate champ.
Hasegawa may renounce his 118-pound belt to move up to the 122-pound or 126-pound category afterwards.

Gabor Veto dominates African rising star Undefeated Hungarian lightweight Gabor Veto (20/WBC #22) dominated Tanzanian „The Thunder“ Obote Ameme (31) in the undercard of the WBC world heavyweight championship between Vitali Klitschko and Kevin Johnson on Saturday night at the sold out Postfinance Arena in Berne, Switzerland. The former member of Hungarian amateur national team, Gabor Veto (13-0, 10 KOs), stood in his 13th professional-fight before his biggest challenge in his boxing-career. His opponent Obote Ameme from Dar-Es-Salaam already fought against world champions like Ratanachai Sor Vorapin, Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym and Rey Bautista. He lost twice against powerful HBO-superstar Rogers Mtagwa only by points. Ameme brought a record of 59 fights, 36 wins (29 KOs!), 20 defeats and 3 draws. The Varpalotan Veto already travelled one week before the fight to Switzerland, where he made an excellent preparation in professional-boxer Nuri Seferi’s boxing-club Burgdorf. Former Cruiserweight world title challenger Jonathan Banks of Emmanuel Steward’s Kronk Gym in Detroit also made some training-session at the same time there. And in the evening Veto went to dinner with the famous US-top-promoters Tom Loeffler (K2 Promotions), Joe DeGuardia (Star Boxing) and ring-announcer Michael Buffer. There were some journalists of print-media and radio who made interviews with Veto. The Klitschko’s K2 Promotion, Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing associated with the SC Bern brought Vitali Klitschko’s third title-defense against Kevin Johnson to the Postfinance Arena in the Swiss capital Berne. It was a very big honour for Veto when Marc Lüthi, CEO of Europe’s biggest ice-hockey club SC Bern invited him to his office and gave him an original ice-hockey shirt with the number 13 (for his 13th professional-bout) and Veto’s name as present. „The SC Bern wishes you all the best for your upcoming fight and your future boxing-career“, said Lüthi to the Varpalotan. When Veto had his walk-in with the music „The final countdown“ of Europe he wore the shirt of the very popular SC Bern and more than 12.000 spectators welcomed Veto with standing ovation. Veto said: „I can’t describe the feeling when you enters in such impressing arena and the spectators stands like a wall behind you. The fans of SC Bern are the best fans in Europe. That was the most impressing moment in my boxing-career!“ The temperature in the arena only was 15 degrees… The Hungarian Veto made a lot of pressure, fought with excellent variety and landed powerful punches to the head and body of Ameme. In front of Veto’s American promoter Damon de Berry (Optimum Sports Agency, New York) and many other famous boxing-people like Tom Loeffler, Joe DeGuardia, Peter Stucki, Artur Ellensohn, Felix Sturm and Bartholomé Torralba Veto became more dominant as the bout progressed with the late rounds. It was Veto’s best fight, who was coached by Oliver Dütschler. Scores were 40-36, 40-36, 40-36. The fight was televised on all five continents. After the fight Veto let to check his left hand by the doctors at ringside Stephan Holthusen and Maurice Waldburger. They saw immideately that Veto’s hand was swollen and his finger even broken. So Veto’s management already cancelled his planned fights in Austria and Slovakia. „It looks like Gabor will make his next fight in the undercard of IBF/WBO world heavyweight championship between Vladimir Klitschko and US-challenger Eddie Chambers in Germany on March 20th, 2010“, said manager Dütschler. It looks like Gabor Veto will move soon to Berne, Switzerland to live, work and train there. He will work in the sector of logistic for a big Swiss company.
