El boxeador ucraniano Vitaly Klitschko, campeón de peso pesado, presentó una queja ante la Corte de Arbitraje del Deporte contra una orden del Consejo Mundial del Boxeo (CMB) que lo obliga a hacer dos defensas consecutivas del título obligatorias, dijo su representante.
“Normalmente media un año entre defensas obligatorias de títulos”, dijo el miércoles Bernd Boente a la agencia de noticias alemana Reuters.
Klitschko defenderá su título el 21 de marzo en Stuttgart contra el cubano Juan Carlos Gómez, en el primer combate obligatorio.
El CMB resolvió que Klitschko también debe pelear contra el ex campeón Oleg Maskaev dentro de los próximos cuatro meses tras el combate con Gómez.
Boente agregó que debido a eso, el ucraniano no está preparado para luchar con Maskaev y sostuvo que Klitschko, de 37 años, tampoco debería sostener dos combates obligatorios consecutivos.
El campeón preferiría medirse en la segunda mitad del año con el británico David Haye 
o el estadounidense Chris Arreola para obtener más contratos lucrativos, agregó el entorno del boxeador.
El ruso Maskaev perdió su título en marzo del 2008 ante el nigeriano Samuel Peter, antes de que Klitschko se lo adjudicara en octubre con un claro triunfo sobre el africano.
“This is the theater of the absurd,” said Oleg Maskaev promoter Dennis Rappaport in response to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko’s complaint with the WBC because he has to fight two mandatory challengers in a row. “Klitschko is fighting about the very same thing he received. What does this guy have a double standard? One for the rest of the world and one for the Klitschko’s?” A year ago, Maskaev was in the same position Klitschko is in now: a mandatory defense against Samuel Peter which was to be followed by a mandatory defense against Klitschko. Maskaev lost to Peter who then lost to Klitschko last October. Now, Klitschko has a March 21st mandatory defense against Juan Carlos Gomez then another due against the former champion, Maskaev. “He’s in the mirror position of Maskaev,” said an exasperated Rappaport. “Why didn’t he cry when it benefited him? It’s really like a joke. Now he wants to attack the very same thing he benefited from!” Maskaev (35-6, 27 KO’s) meanwhile, will next fight on March 14th in the Republic of Mordovia against journeyman Rich Boruff.
