
By Rey Danseco MANNY Pacquiao needs to overcome a jetlag and expected a week up to 10 days to acclimatize from the time he arrives in California, United States before he gets into a tip-top shape for the war against Miguel Cotto. Pacquiao and his team left Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Terminal 2 in Manila around 10 pm Saturday night on his way to Los Angeles. They are on board a Philippine Airlines flight PR 102 and expected to touchdown Tom Bradley International Terminal of Los Angeles International Airport on the same day. Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach estimated his 30-year old fighter to become a little bit sleepy in the first couple of days, but he said he won’t be surprise if the Filipino superstar will look comfortable in America’s time zone. It was the first time in eight years that Pacquiao in Baguiao City for a fight in the United States. The six-time world champion, three time as WBC titlist, has 22 more days to acclimatize in Las Vegas where he fights World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. Pacquiao trains in the Summer Capital of the Philippine from Sept. 21 until last week. The pound for pound champion weight exactly the limit of the welterweight division, 147 pounds yesterday and will be expected to balloon a little bit during the 13-hour flight. Pacquiao, who became a flyweight, super featherweight and lightweight champ of the WBC, aims for another gold and green belt. At stake in the scheduled 12-round contest against Cotto on Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is the WBC Diamond Belt that WBC president Jose Sulaiman introduced for the first time.Cotto on the other hand tries to win his first WBC title in his career and looks to defend his WBO belt for second straight time.
