WBCares is a World Boxing Council program which makes visits to children hospitals and children organizations with champions and boxing personalities to encourage the kids.

This is the report of Jill Diamond, chair of the program:

Dear Team:
Firstly, Jose Sulaiman and the WBC wish to thank all of you for your generous hearts and kind participation. We also would like to welcome the wonderful Susana Castillo to the team. And, as always, much gratitude to the Reyes family for their ongoing help.
I thought I’d give everyone a little update on some of the things we did this summer.
June 2nd – Cancun, Mexico – CHIT  – Saul Alvarez, Jorge Paez and others visited and delighted the children.
June 7th – HOPE – CHLA – 400 children who’ve survived cancer  had fun with Kelli Freeman,Michele Chong,Chika Nakamura,Katarenia DeLaCruz,Shawn Estrada,Walter Sarnoi,Alfonso Gomez,Hassan Chitsaz,Michael Chitsaz,Genaro Hernandez,Rudolfo Gonzalez,Anthony Villareal, and Tony Rivera
June 14th:  Health & Sports Fair – Aser levy Park, Brooklyn, NY (Russian American Foundation) Dmitiriy Slaita, Hector Roca, Eilon Kedem,, Karen Briman, Mauricio Drazner, and I had the pleasure of entertaining  2000 people.

July 1st: Mott Haven Leadership Program – I took Mike Ortega, David Diamante, Shraddha Brokawe, Ricky Ray Taylor, David Selwyn, Sean Connolly, and Iran Barkley and watched as they delighted the children with inspiring stories about themselves.
July 3rd: Intrepid: We worked with Cherry Lane Music and brought a group of known musicians to visit and teach 200 children about making beats, music and rapping.
August 12th – MSG 125 Year! – NYC (Fox News) Brian Adams, Sadam Ali, Tor Hammer,  Joe Williams, Ann Sacurrato, Will Rosinsky, Suszannah Warner, and I celebrated the anniversary with face painting, dancing, and general happiness.
August 14th: Hammond Boxing Club, opened – Dennis Hardesty, Jaime Ortega, Eric Casillas, Vincent Johnson – We helped by supplying press, posters, T shirts and key chains to the only boxing club in a very tough Chicago, Indiana area.

We also joined forces with The Princess Trust (Thanks to David Walker), Athletes for Hope (Lance Armstrong’s group), Athletes for Charity (Lutehrin Chairties, Red Bulls), The Daily News and Human Defense Initiative (Manny Pacquiao’s environmental program). I met with Manny’s representative in LA, Valerie Gonzalez, and suggested they look into Philippine General Hospital, the hospital that Jose arranged for us to go to while in Manila.
Confirmed for the next two months:

September 6th – David Walker, will attend and give an Ambassador Certificate to Howard Winstone’s  son at the.Welsh ex Boxers Association.  In addition,David is also working on many other things assisting underprivileged children and ex boxers in the UK.
September 11th – A day of Service. We were asked by Athletes for Hope and the Obama Administration. Our assignment is Harlem Children’s Zone. Attending with me will be: Brain Adams, Ann Sacurrato, Sparkle Lee, Adameus, Jill Emery and Iran Barkley.
October 3rd – Charleston, South Carolina – Moja Cup Amateur Boxing Tournament – (Charleston Police Boxing Club, Al “Hollywood” Megget, Mark Wright, Crystal Wright, 150 children). Sadly, this was Vernon Forrest’s charity. This will now be an event in his honor.

Kiate Sirigul continues to work with children in Thailand, thanks to General Kovid and his generosity.
We are helping the NY Foundling Leadership Program with their plans to open a gym in the South Bronx for needy children.
Francisco Mendez has opened his boxing to gym (Mendez Gym) to several children through our program.
CRIT – A continuing relationship involving many top boxers.

My favorite story goes like this. An East Indian oncologist asked if we’d help her Aunt from Long Island build an orphanage in Guyana.  I spoke to Mauricio, in Mexico, who suggested Roy Van Putten in Aruba, who sent me to William Boodho, in Canada who has a daughter in Guyana… and now… we’re helping them get this safe place (Abrahams Tent )realized.
This is our power– we are global — and we choose to fight without surrender.I urge you all to send in your events. Let’s inspire each other.                                     My thanks to all!
                                      Respectfully,
                                          Jill
