Interviewer in Thai: Sanhachai Poljivin
After he lost the WBC Flyweight belt to Japanese boxer Daisuke Naito who is a current champion in 112 lbs division in 2007 and failed to regain the title by split draw to Naito again in 2008, “The Thunder Pucher” Pongsaklek Krathingdaenggym (Wonjongkam), recieved the new oppotunity to challenge the vacant Interim WBC Flyweight title with ”El Pingo” Julio Cesar Miranda on last friday (April 24, 09) in Chachoengsao Province. He also captured this tempolary title via unanimous decision and wide margin won over the Mixican fighter. This is the post-fight interview with him by “Chang Pr” Mr. Sanhachai Poljivin who is one of the most popular Thai boxing reporters of Thailand.
Chang: Please tell me about your last fight with Miranda.
Pongsaklek: It was one of my hard fights. I had bleeding nose in round 2. And I also was nearly knocked down in the last round by his body bombardment. He is a good fighter.
Chang: After you failed to regain the title what did you do ?.
Pongsaklek: I rested for free around 4-5 months. Because I got severe abodominal pain during driving license examination and I went to the hospital as soon as I can. The final diagnosis was acute appendicitis and I was operated immidiately. I aslo returned to the ring in September 2007.
Chang: Do you want to quite the boxing after you failed to regain the title ?.
Pongsaklek: No I don’t. This is only a sport.
Chang: Back to fight that you lost the WBC title what was the reason ?.
Pongsaklek: I took some anti-anxiety pills before the fight. That is the main reason why I lost my belt.
Chang: What is your different between the champion and non-champion times ?.
Pongsaklek: No, it is the same.
Chang: How long do you want to fight into the ring ?.
Pongsaklek: may be 4-5 years.
Chang: Do you want to make the fifth fight with Naito ?.
Pongsaklek: Sure. I want to see him again 100%. If he beat Xiong Zhao Zhong in China.
Chang: How are you finance situation ?.
Pongsaklek: I am OK. I have a new car, decorated my house and have more money in my bank accounts.
Chang: when do you want to get married ?.
Pongsaklek: Around next 3-4 years. May be after retirement. Because I want to have time for my family.
Chang: What do you want to do to improve you boxing skill ?.
Pongsaklek: I want to improve my body fitness and power. Therefore I will have a regular training.
Chang: Dou you have weight problem ?.
Pongsaklek: Absolutely Not. Surely I can move down to 108 lbs division.
Chang: If Naito lost his belt in his mandatory fight to Panomrunglek Krathingdaenggym. Do you want to challenge the world title with him ?.
Pongsaklek: No. I don’t think so. Because he is my gym mate. Therefore we will defense our titles separately.
Chang: Thank you for you time, champ.
Pongsaklek: Thank you sir.
