In a WBC female flyweight title unification bout, WBC interim titleholder Mariana “Barbie” Juarez (28-5-3, 13 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten world champion Simona Galassi (14-1-1, 3 KOs) on Friday night at the Salon Jose Cuervo in Polanco, Distrito Federal, Mexico. Galassi showed her class early as she boxed beautifully and landed cleanly, but Juarez was relentless and simply out-toughed the Italian star as the bout progressed. Scores were 97-93, 97-93, 96-94. Fightnews.com also scored it 96-94.
Lightweight Daniel Estrada (25-2-1, 19 KOs) scored a six round technical decision over Arturo Gomez (18-15-5, 8 KOs). A head clash rendered Gomez unable to continue and the bout went to the cards where Estrada was ahead by scores of 58-56, 59-55, 60-54. Estrada claimed the vacant WBC Continental Americas title.
Super featherweight Gamaliel Diaz (30-9-2, 15 KOs) dropped Rafael Urias (22-19-2, 16 KOs) in round two and finished him in round three to claim the CABOFE 130lb belt.
Super featherweight Salvador Sanchez II (21-4-3, 11 KOs) scored a third round KO over Francisco Olvera (15-6, 13 KOs).
Lightweight Carlos Cardenas (15-5-1, 10 KOs) outpointed Hugo Morales (10-7, 2 KOs) over eight by scores of 78-74, 78-74, 77-75.
In a battle of junior welterweight power punchers, Mario Cuevas (11-2, 11 KOs) dropped Nestor Reyes (5-2, 5 KOs) in round one and finished him in round two.
Lightweight Christian Uruzquieta (7-2, 3 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Saul Mendoza (5-4-1, 2 KOs).
