Three weeks after he successfully defended the WBC world championship, Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez is back in the gym ready to prepare his next defense. With little overweight, he ran with his trainer Edison Reynoso, yesterday morning.

“Saul Alvarez is a professional, and he´s back in the practice room to start working,” said Reynoso.

Alvarez, gave one of his best battles last June 18 in Guadalajara, where thousands of people in the VFG Arena witnessed the beating he gave to the experienced British, Ryan Rhodes, who technically knocked out at the end of the fight.

Now the king of the super welterweight division, will held an optional defense for the next September 17, and the name of his opponent, as well as the meeting place, will be announced shortly by his promoter Oscar De La Hoya.

“The most likely is that Saul Alvarez will defend his crown in the United States against one of the WBC top ten ranked,” said Reynoso.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has a professional record of 37 wins, 27 knockouts and one draw.
