WBC super welterweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (39-0-1, 29 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over former world champion Kermit Cintron (33-5-1, 28 KOs) on Saturday night at the Plaza Mexico in Mexico City.
Good performance by Alvarez, who dropped Cintron with a right hand in round four and Cintron barely made it back to his corner after the bell.
The bout was stopped by referee Hector Afu after more power shots in round five.
Time was 2:53. Alvarez dominated the whole fight and the end of round number four, all three judges had the fight 40-35 on the cards.
