FORMER WBC light flyweight champion Brian “Filipino Punch” Viloria will make a comeback fight since losing his IBF title in Manila early this year.
Viloria (26-3, 15 KOs) will takes on former two-time world title challenger Omar Soto (19-6-2, 13 KOs) of Mexico on July 10 at the Ynares along the busy William J. Shaw Boulevard in Pasig City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Viloria, a proud Filipino that was born and raised in Hawaii, was dethroned by Carlos Tamara with 12th round TKO in Manila last January. The 29-year old former two-time champion was on the verge of retaining the title with decision but made a mistake of fighting toe to toe in the last two rounds.
The 30-year old Mexican faltered in his bid to win the WBO flyweight title from Argentina’s Omar Andres Narvaez via an 11th round knockout in June last year and suffered a sixth round knockout against Indonesian Muhammad Rachman in 2006 for the IBF minimumweight crown.
