JAPAN READY FOR THE TRIPLE WBC TITLE BOUTS ON SATURDAY

TOKYO, Japan – Everything is set for the triple WBC world title fights here on Saturday.

The Ariake Colosseum, an indoor sporting arena with a capacity of 10,000, will be the venue of the title defenses of WBC flyweight champion Koki Kameda, WBC minimumweight king Oleydong Sithsamerchai, and WBC female atomweight champ Momo Koseki.

Kameda (22-0, 14 KOs) takes on WBC interim flyweight boss Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (74-3-1, 39 KOs) of Thailand, Sithsamerchai (33-0, 12 KOs) faces fourth contender Yasutaka Kuroki (23-3-1, 15 KOs), while Koseki (9-2, 2 KOs) trade leathers against Korean Gun-Joo Shin (3-0, 1 KO).

WBC president Jose Sulaiman has assigned Chuck Williams of Hawaii and Edward Thangarajah of Thailand as supervisors. These gentlemen arrived here in Tokyo last Wednesday.

Last Thursday, the judges arrived and are ready to work, beginning today for the scheduled weigh in and rules meeting at the Korakuen Hall.

The judges for the Kameda-Wonjongkam bout are Predrag Aleksic from Montenegro, American Maximo DeLuca and John Keane from England while Mexican Guadalupe Garcia will be the referee.

When Sithsamerchai and Kuroki fights, Bruce McTavish, a resident of the Philippines for more than 40 years, will be the third man in the ring while the judges are Korean Jae Bong Kim, Aleksic and this writer.

This writer and Korean Shin Kyoung Ha are announced as the judges for the Koseki-Shin bout along with Japanese Kazuo Abe. Yuji Fukuchi will be the third man in the ring.

The first bout on Saturday will be around 5pm (Tokyo time) while the female championship fight will begin the actions among the three WBC championship fights around 6pm.

The minimumweight title fight is set at 7:10pm while the flyweight championship will be at 8:40pm.
