FORMER 5-division WBC champion Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez will start their serious build up for their much awaited third match later this year.
After joining the 4-city press tour, Pacquiao plans to work out at Makati’s Planet Jupiter Gym here in Manila while waiting for his
trainer Freddie Roach to arrive on Sept. 17.
The 32-year old superstar and Roach will drive going up to Baguio City and trains at the Shape Up Gym for three weeks before heading to Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
Roach plans to put former WBC featherweight champion Jorge Linares of Argentina as Pacquiao’s main sparmate, beginning at the end of the month.
Pacquiao and Marquez will clash for the third time on Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand.
A report from Mexico revealed that Marquez plans to make at least 12 weeks of preparation at the Romanza Gym under the guidance of ace guru Nacho Beristain.
Publicist Ricardo Jimenez of Top Rank revealed Marquez will make his serious training on on Monday, although he’s doing a regular indoor strength exercises and road work.
In 2004, Marquez salvaged a split draw to keep his WBA world and IBF featherweight titles. But the Ring Magazine recognized Pacquiao the winner, considering Burt A. Clements admitted he made a mistake in giving a 10-7 verdict instead of 10-6 in the three knockdowns the Asian superstar has made in the first round.
Clements final tally was even, 113-113, while the two other judges split their opinions with identical 115-110.
In the rematch in 2008, Pacquiao floored Marquez once again and won the WBC super featherweight title with a hard-earned split decision win.
Marquez, a three time world champ, keeps on complaining that he was robbed of his victories against Pacquiao.
On the other hand, Pacquiao had repeatedly said that the trilogy bout will answer all the questions left by their two previous battles.
This contest will be at 144-lb limit.
