LOWLY-RATED Roilo Golez safely arrived inMexico Cityfrom more than 30-hour flight fromManila,Philippinesin preparation for his second attempt to win a WBC title before a Mexican crowd.
Golez took the Delta Airlines flight that promoter Ricardo Maldonado had sent to him over the weekend.

From Manila in the Philippines, Golez’ flight had stopovers in Tokyo, Atlanta and two other American states before reaching his final destination Monday, five days before he fights former WBC light flyweight champion Edgar Sosa for the WBC International flyweight title on Saturday at the Foro Polanco in Distrito Federal.
The former Asian minimumweight champ has promised to stop Sosa within four rounds, believing his hand-speed and power will be enough to avenge his lost in hisMexicodebut last October inPuebla, where Sammy Gutierrez beat him with TKO in the fifth round.
This fight will be Golez’s first fight in flyweight. His heavies weight was 110 lbs when he beat a boxer with 1-12 record, Dodoy Alapormina, with TKO in round 5 last Dec. 23.
In the current WBC ratings, Golez is listed No. 37 in the strawweight.
Scheduled for 12-rounds, this contest will be the first in 2012, as continuation of the Filipino-Mexican rivalry in the ring.
Sosa took the title from Filipino Ryan “Totoy Bato” Bito with TKO in the 10th round in Oct. 2010.
Sosa defended it two in a row before losing in his bid to become a two-division world champion inBangkok,Thailand, where WBC flyweight king Pongsaklek Wonjongkam dominated him in at least nine rounds last October.
