Another heavy blow for the WBC with the passing of our dear Carlitos Montes Cureño / Otro golpe moral para el Boxeo: falleció Carlos Montes Cureño

Desafortunadamente continúan las malas noticias dentro del boxeo mexicano, murió don Carlos Montes Cureño a la edad de 86 años, ex boxeador de la década de los 40, quien desde su retiro cuidó, ayudó y acompañó siempre a otro de nuestros grandes boxeadores, Kid Azteca.
Don Carlos tuvo una carrera muy aceptable en los cuadriláteros, fue un hombre limpio en todos sentidos; se caracterizó por su educación, siendo un gran amigo y colaborador del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo.
Recientemente había sido elegido para recibir una cantidad mensual de dinero proveniente del Fondo “José Sulaimán”.
Sentimos profundamente este deceso, siempre lo recordaremos como la gran persona que fue y enviamos nuestras más sentidas condolencias a su familia.

In a week of sad  and irreparable losses of wonderful WBC people, Don Carlos Montes Cureño has died at the age of eighty six.
A former boxer in the 1940´s. Since his retirement Don Carlos always took care to support another- beloved boxer, Kid Azteca.
Don Carlos had an excellent ring career. A dapper, smart man, invariably attired in a suit, he was always kind, humble, smiling and very popular with the World Boxing Council. He attended many WBC events, and could always be relied upon.
Recently, he’d been elected by the “Jose Sulaiman Fund,” to receive monthly support.
We deeply regret Carlos Montes Cureño’s passing and will forever remember him as the great person he always was. We send our deep condolences to his friends and family. We have lost a true gentleman.
