BREAKING NEWS: MAYWEATHER SUGGESTS PACQUIAO WBC-WBA TITLE FIGHT ON MAY 2
But Floyd Insists Pacquiao Must Gets Less Money Than Him
By REY DANSECO
WBC-WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has felt the pressure and then announced tonight his interest to fight Manny Pacquiao on the 2nd of May next year on a condition that the Filipino gets fewer purses than he thinks.
“You lost twice and now you’re coming back begging for the same money?” Mayweather asked in an interview of Showtime network during his boxing show few minutes ago, Friday night, at Illusions Theater, San Antonio, Texas where Ishe Smith and Erislandy Lara fight for WBA world middleweight title. “That’s not gonna happen.”manny-pacquiao-floyd-mayweather
The megafight is anticipated as the biggest in history with likely gross at least $250 million.
The 37-year-old American would earn more than $100 million while Pacquiao might take more or less half of it.
Mayweather insisted that he’s not ducking the 8-division world champion and instead pointed Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, is the main hindrance for the realization of the fight.
“Floyd Mayweather is not ducking or dodging any opponent,” Mayweather claimed. “Bob Arum is stopping the fight. We have been trying to make this fight happen for many years behind the scene.”
Pacquiao has been vocal about his intention to face Mayweather since the people call for their collision in the last five years. Last month, he pressed more the pressure on Mayweather to fight after his unanimous decision win over previously undefeated American Chris Algeiri in Macau, China.
Arum revealed he had also been in negotiations with television network’s big boss Les Moonves of CBS Corporation as his part of making the fight happen.
HE’S NOT ON MY LEVEL, SAYS FLOYD
Mayweather’s oozing with confidence that he can soundly beat Pacquiao, who at 5-foot-6 is two-inch short that him.
The undefeated American, with 72 inches wingspan, has five-inch reach advantage to exploit over Pacquiao, at 35 is a year younger than Mayweather.
“I know that he’s not on my level,” Mayweather declared. “The fan would love to see the fight. And, of course, I want to go out with a bang.”
Like Pacquiao, Mayweather is coming from unanimous decision win. He defeated Marcos Maidana of Argentina in rematch to defend his world welterweight belts as well as the WBC light middleweight title in September in Las Vegas, Nevada.
