At 49 Years Old Heavyweight Contender Bronco Billy Wright Looks To Make History / A los 49 años, “Bronco” Billy Wright, buscará hacer historia

LAS VEGAS – Looking to make history, 49-year old heavyweight contender “Bronco” Billy Wright (45-4, 36 KOs) has his mind set on becoming the oldest heavyweight champion to ever to win a world title.  Currently rated #18 by the WBC, Wright holds the LATIN AMERICAN, FECARBOX titles, and United States (USNBC) Silver title.

This Saturday November 22, 2014, Wright travels to Bolivia to face Juan Carlos Flores-Choque (14-3, 13 KOs) in a 12-round bout in which his WBC titles will be on the line.  Just shy of his 50th birthday, Wright feels confident he’ll be able to accomplish his goal of one day becoming heavyweight champion of the world, breaking George Foreman’s record as the oldest man to win the prized crown.

“Over the years my team and I have learned a lot about this game,” said Billy Wright. “Together we’ve come a long way to get to this point in my career.  I remember sparring with George Foreman before his fight with Michael Moore and thinking to myself how incredible it was for him to be fighting in his forty’s.  Now here I am just days before my 50th birthday still fighting in 12-round bouts.  I really believe if I can put together a few more wins, I can become the oldest heavyweight to win a world title.”

With twelve consecutive knockouts in a row, Wright is currently riding a 16-fight winning streak that spans from 1999 till now.  In his last fight which took place on September 9, 2014, Bronco Billy defeated Julio Cuellar Cabrera (7-3, 6 KOs) by way of 1st round knockout.  His upcoming bout with Flores-Choque will be his fourth bout of 2014.  Wright speaks on the incredible year he’s having.

“2014 has been remarkable for all of us that make up Team Billy,” Wright continued. “I feel very strong at the tender age of 49 and while I’m beating guys almost half my age, I still feel young.  I celebrate my 50th birthday on December 10th and if I win this Saturday, I’ll be fighting again before the year is done. To win a heavyweight fight at 50 years old would be an accomplishment my team and I would enjoy very much, but my ultimate goal is to win the championship of the world.  I know it sounds unbelievable, but I believe in myself and the team I put around me.  Together we are going to do everything in our power to make it a reality.”

A solo un paso de cumplir 50 años, Wright se siente  con confianza de cumplir uno de sus mas grandes sueños, convertirse en Campeón mundial  batiendo el record que George Foreman obtuvo al ser el campeon de la divisón con más años cumplidos.

“Con el paso de los años   he aprendido mucho sobre este deporte” comentó Billy Wright.” “Juntos hemos llegado a este punto de mi carrera. Recuerdo cuando ayude a Grorge Foreman siendo su sparring antes de su pelea en contra de Michael Moore, mientras pensaba lo maravilloso que era poder pelear a los 40 años. Ahora heme aquí, con casi 50 años y aún peleando a 12 rounds. En verdad creo que aún puedo ganar un par de peleas más y convertirme en el campeón mundial pesado mas longevo”

Con 12 KO´s consecutivos, Wright se dirige a obtener su victoria numero 16  que se extiende desde 1999 hasta ahora. En su última pelea, en Septiembre 9 del 2014, Bronco derroto a Julio Cuellar Cabrera (7-3, 6 KOs) por KO en el primer round. Su próxima pelea, en contra de Flores- Choque,será su cuarta en lo que va del año. El nos comenta sobre el increíble año que esta viviendo.

“El 2014 , ha sido un año muy bueno para  mi y todo el equipo Billy”, Wright continua . “Me siento muy fuerte y orgulloso al seguir derrotando rivales que tienen la mitad de mi edad  y aún me siento joven. Mi cumpleaños será el próximo Diciembre 10 y si ganó este sábado , volveré a pelear antes de que acabe el años. Ganar el campeonato mundial a los 50 años sería un gran logro que mi equipo y yo disfrutaríamos mucho, mi  gran sueño es ese, ser campeón mundial. Se que suena difícil de creer , pero creo en mi y en mi equipo . Juntos haremos todo lo posible para hacer que esto sea una realidad”.
